Garment Technologist


Location: Manchester
Hours: Monday to Friday: 9am - 5pm
Salary:  £20,000 - £26,000

  • A technically-orientated qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential.
  • 5+ years experience in a similar role in a fast paced environment. 
  • Experience of working directly with factories, and thorough understanding of how factories are structured and operate.
  • Thorough understanding of garment construction and fabric technology, including testing.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to both prioritise tasks and change direction with agility as the situation requires.
  • Fully conversant with Outlook, Excel and Word, and willing to learn new applications as the role demands.

The Garment Technologist role is crucial to our success and growth, as product is the biggest focus area of our business. 
We have a large, loyal following of clients all over the world; people who challenge us to create more products,  new collections, exciting new styles, so there’s a real urgency to develop these products and get them to market. We need someone who will throw themselves into the deep end and really go for it! 

The successful candidate will play a big role in driving excellent quality and fit across all of our products so it’s vital that we get someone who’s hungry, passionate and a real team player.

The person successful for this position will be working closely with the product team to create detailed, accurate size chart technical specifications. You will be responsible for grading all patterns and samples across all products, and ensuring all technical issues are accurately and consistently analysed. Making sure that clear, concise and accurate comments are sent to suppliers to improve areas of weakness and maintain areas of strength. You will be overseeing the sample process from the initial stages, measuring and checking samples, making fit comments and feeding them back to factories ensuring the production process runs smoothly. Promoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude, you will consistently be delivering continuous improvements and innovative solutions.
